On April 12, 2018, I bought a purse, wallet, and bangle bracelet from Brighton store at the Baywood Mall, in a suburb of Houston while visiting family in Seabrook, TX. I put items from my old purse in the new bag.

After doing that I discovered the purse was not going to work out for me because it was simply too small. The saleswoman put the purse and wallet into a lovely shopping bag, along with the purse protecting drawstring bag which comes with the purse. I was not given a box! I called the store and spoke to a lady named Susan.

She said they would happily refund my credit card if I had my receipt, the original packaging and if it had not been worn. I said okay and borrowed a family members car to return the purse. When I arrived Susan, the lady I spoke with on the phone said very rudely โ€œwhereโ€™s the box.โ€ I explained I was never given a box. From there she took the purse unzipped it, sniffed it briefly inside and stated โ€œthis purse is worn because it smells of peppermint.โ€ I smelled the bag and said no it doesnโ€™t.

I promised her it wasnโ€™t worn, which was obvious by itโ€™s pristine condition. I provided everything she asked for and from whereโ€™s the box it went to it smells of peppermint, huh! I in good faith had told Herm I moved items into the purse which included peppermint mints (in a small container and peppermint gum, also in a small container. Nonetheless, it DID NOT smell of peppermint, it smells of leather.

I asked for the manager, she said she was the manager, I then asked for someone above her she said โ€œyouโ€™ll have to take it up with corporate and you need to leave the store because youโ€™re disturbing the other customers.โ€ I walked into the Mall hallway outside the store and called my credit card company to dispute the charge. I had to re-enter the store to get Susanโ€™s last name for the claims department of my credit card company. She hatefully rambled her name of which I never did understand. I even asked her 3 times to spell it, naturally she wasnโ€™t cooperative with that either.

I then went to the ladies restroom. I decided to stop 3 random female, total strangers, to ask if they would mind smelling inside the bag and tell me what they smell. All 3 said they smelled leather. I asked do you smell peppermint, all responded no.

So I left the Mall and will let my credit card handle the dispute. I will NEVER buy another Brighton product and I recommend that buyers beware, itโ€™s a sketchy company!!!
